We offer dynamic career opportunities globally and are currently seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our client’s team in Savannah, Georgia.
Position Summary
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of facilities in Savannah, GA, with occasional travel to Charleston, SC, and Jacksonville, FL.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify equipment and machines that need repairs and perform routine inspections of the premises.
- Diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs.
- Use blueprints or manuals to plan repair work.
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
- Carry out general repairs, such as fixing or replacing doors, windows, and locks, and maintaining and repairing HVAC systems.
- Perform routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets and sinks, fixing water leaks, and leaking faucets.
- Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the facilities.
- Obtain supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Load and unload equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including tasks performed, materials used, and costs incurred.
- Perform carpentry work such as building shelves, repairing furniture, and installing fixtures.
- Handle painting and plastering tasks to maintain a clean and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- Comply with all company safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Solid knowledge of general maintenance techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and strength to handle manual tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work on weekends or outside regular working hours for emergencies or special projects.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
- Certification in a relevant trade or maintenance field (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Prior experience in a similar maintenance role is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
