Summary
Leads Program Management, Configuration Management, and Technical Documentation Teams. Coaches, mentors, and builds mutual respect with and between team of direct reports, steps in as first level of escalation for their customers.
Works cross-functionally with other team leads and executive leadership team on initiatives to secure business, improve profitability, expand the customer base, and extend the markets we serve.
Serves as the primary point of contact for all communication with assigned customers and acts as their internal advocate.
Develops creative solutions to solve problems that may arise that would threaten program dates or profitability and provides timely alerts to Senior Management when risks may be realized.
Contributes executional expertise to contract reviews, facilitates execution of commercial agreements, monitors and manages program budgets.
Coordinates resource planning / allocation with resource owners. Oversees the teams supporting multiple, and often competing, large or otherwise complex program schedules and their deliverables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the PM, CM and Technical Publications teams (domestic and Ukraine), prioritize, help remove roadblocks and escalate issues as needed
- Ensure each team member is up to date on training and thoroughly understands their respective department's procedures
- Responsible for personnel management including resolution of any personnel issues
- Identify needs for process improvement and lead / participate in the implementation
- Act as the high-level, comprehensive owner of assigned projects, as applicable
- Build key customer relationships that help the organization maintain a strong position in the market
- Facilitate distribution of technical data and customer inquiries with technical members of project team
- Manage, track, and hold team members accountable for deadlines, milestones, action items, and deliverables for all facets of multiple, concurrent projects working in a horizontal, matrix-based organizational structure
- Deliver presentations and carry on negotiations with both clients and prospective clients
- Forecast and report annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams
- Establish effective communications with appropriate executives and managers to ensure proper sensitivity to sales needs
- Track developments in the aviation market in order to assess the position of the company and determine how to improve it
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the company's technology and product offerings
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Astronics CSC's key markets, customers and competition
- Work with Business Development & Customer Service to identify and develop new business opportunities, recommend new products and markets for Astronics CSC
- Monitor the document generation, review, release and approval processes for each deliverable
- Assist in resource planning based on project deliverable needs and work scope
- Facilitate inter-department communication and deliverable / data handoff via trigger points at pertinent project milestones
- Assist in development of commercial agreements and the associated review process.
- Act as a real time problem solver with the customer, serve in consulting-style role in the early stages of the business relationship by setting expectations, troubleshooting problems, and addressing potential customer concerns / questions
- Provide market feedback to the internal stakeholders within the company to facilitate visibility to market trends / shifts in technology
- Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.
- Working knowledge of ISO / 9001 / 14000 / 13485, AS9100 and AS9145 processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director of Programs and Engineering Services leads a team of Program Managers and indirectly the Manager of Customer Service as well as the Configuration Management Team, Technical Publications Team and potentially other engineering services groups.
S / He is responsible for personnel decisions as well as the career development plans for the members of the team.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Required :
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering, or in a related technical and / or equivalent field, or Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, or a minimum of ten years of related industry experience
- A minimum of five years in a supervisory role of a team of at least 10 people
- A minimum of ten years of prior technical program management experience, preferably on projects with multiple, competing and concurrent deliverables
- Experience working with Microsoft Project
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to address any level of the organization or customers' organization
- Detail oriented, not easily overwhelmed
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills
- Strong time management, critical thinking and decision making skills
Preferred :
Working understanding of both sales and marketing
