Summary

Prepare equipment and materials for shipment. Complete all required documentation. Inspect and assure that outgoing shipments maintain both product and packaging quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare equipment and materials for shipment according to shipping order, which may include handling, storing, and cutting material.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure that they meet the requirements of the shipping order and have been properly protected against damage.
  • Prepare and complete all shipping documentation : air waybills, bills of lading, shipper’s letter of instructions, and certificates of conformance.
  • Maintain and control inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Process equipment and materials for staging of future shipments.
  • Operate forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or other work areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and / or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires knowledge of state, federal, FAA, and international shipping regulations and customs documentation. Ability to operate a forklift.

IATA Dangerous Goods Certification may be obtained during the course of employment, if needed. Knowledge of AS9120 or AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards is preferred.

Computer Skills

Ability to use personal computers and word processing programs and ability to type.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write instructions. Ability to effectively relay information one-on-one to delivery drivers, freight forwarding companies, employees, and management.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts of arithmetic and algebra to convert feet to square feet and cubic feet and pounds to kilograms.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;

and have average hand-to-eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is regularly required to use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate and shuffle documents, use writing instruments, and type on a keyboard.

The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, balance, sit for prolonged periods, speak clearly, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, reach, bend, twist, and crouch.

The employee must regularly twist or turn while holding 25 pounds and lift and move 45 pounds.

Employees are required to know and abide by all safety rules and programs. Employees must observe and practice safe working conditions and report any condition that does not meet safety standards.

Under state law, employees have a duty to immediately report all accidents to their employer. Work areas should be kept clean and well-organized.
