Job Overview

Work Schedule : Tuesday - Saturday 11 : 30am - 8 : 30pm
Women age 18 and above with severe substance use disorders are able to enter residential treatment with their children under the age of 10 ½.
In addition to treatment of severe substance use disorder, the residential program is able to serve the following specialty populations : pregnant and postpartum women, women with histories of trauma and / or domestic violence, women with co-occurring mental health disorders, women with history of traumatic brain injury, women with open DCFS cases, and women with criminal justice involvement.
The Medical (Med) Technician (Tech) is either a certified or registered medical assistant who maintains registration from an approved / accredited California agency, or registered substance use disorder professional who maintains registration from an approved / accredited California agency.
The Med Tech works in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible treatment outcome for the client and provide treatment in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360's philosophy, goals, policies, mission and vision.
The Med Tech provides supervision and oversite of the clients and children assigned the detox or behavioral health units with shifts ranging to provide 24 / 7 coverage.
The Med Techs provide facility coverage by supervising the clients during : medication line, detox, and free time. The Med Tech is customer service focused and is quick to take the lead in providing crisis intervention and client stabilization.
The Med Tech has a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Assists with assessment and intake of clients entering the detox unit.
- Demonstrates strong crisis intervention and client stabilization skills.
- Complete detox rounds and behavioral support rounds at 30 minute intervals and documents each round accurately.
- Monitors client progress in detox and maintains strong communication with the medical team.
- Provides medical crisis intervention and triages clients as needed within scope of practice.
- Monitors the medication line and observes client medication self- administration.
- Documents client medication self-administration with accuracy.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the treatment team and communicates any behavioral concerns to the client's Case Manager, Clinical Therapist, Counselor, Medical, and Psychiatrist.
- Seeks consultation when encountering new and / or high risk medical or clinical circumstance.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education Requirements :
Registration or Certification as Medical Assistant from an approved / accredited California agency, or Registration as Substance Abuse Counselor from an approved / accredited California agency.
Experience :
- Preferably a minimum of two years' experience in the human service field and demonstrated expertise in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery.
- Experience working with clients experiencing acute withdrawal from substances.
- Knowledge of and experience with providing trauma informed services.
