Area Director of SalesACCOUNTABILITY

The Area Director of Sales role involves proactively planning and leading the overall sales efforts of two hotels to achieve optimal occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).

The primary goal is to maximize revenues and surpass hotel profit targets while meeting or exceeding all Stoney Creek standards and guest / client expectations.

Success in this role is measured by aligning results with the organization's larger strategic goals. The job requires a proactive and competitive approach, maintaining focus on results despite changing conditions.

Decision-making centers on practical and timely solutions, necessitating quick action and versatility in handling various activities.

The role demands self-assurance, confidence, and a commitment to driving results while consistently problem-solving. Effective leadership, characterized by a firm and goal-oriented approach that also motivates, trains, and engages others enthusiastically, is crucial for success in this position.

Stoney Creek Hospitality is a midsized hospitality management company that manages twelve limited-service hotels throughout the Midwest.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This role would serve the Moline, IL and Peoria, IL area hotels.

Revenue Management : Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement sales and marketing plans. Direct revenue management initiatives to achieve maximum revenues.

Operational Support : Serve as the Manager on Duty as needed to support hotel operations.

Proactive Sales : Actively sell the hotel through direct and indirect sales efforts.

Group Meeting Planning : Serve as the guest contact at the property level for all group meeting planners.

Community Representation : Represent the hotel in the community and within the hospitality industry.

Market Analysis : Survey, review, and analyze competition, market trends, and customer needs to develop new plans and programs.

Assess the potency of current plans and programs.

Sales Documentation : Perform sales-related duties, including Group Covers, proposals, contracts, cancellations / lost business reports, rooming lists, competitive analysis, trace file system, geographic file, and weekly sales activity reports.

Goal Achievement : Achieve goals set forth in the annual Budget and Marketing Plan through various sales activities.

Yield Management : Participate in Yield Management with the GM, AGM, FOM by setting and controlling group room ceilings, booking and maintaining group blocks, and assisting in reviewing inventory and rate level availability.

Marketing Plan Development : Play an integral role in writing the company’s Annual Marketing Plan, including monthly plans of action, and monitoring results.

Relationship Building : Develop and enhance relationships with sales market segments, professional associations, media, and community organizations.

Training and Motivation : Train and motivate Stoney Creek employees when needed. Train new Stoney Creek Sales Managers, Event Coordinators, and sales team members.

Trade Shows and Events : Lead efforts in STONEY CREEK trade show participation, including pre-marketing, booth presentation, amenity choice, and follow-up.

Foundational Skills and Qualities : Strong organizational skills to manage tasks and prioritize work. Good physical stamina and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Work Expectations and Responsibilities : Willingness to adapt to a variety of tasks, including "Other duties as assigned.

Participate in department meetings and maintain an open line of communication with colleagues. Obtain any required certifications necessary, as relevant to the specific job.

HARD SKILLS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

High School diploma or equivalent.

College degree in related areas preferred.

Previous experience in hospitality sales is preferred.

Proficiency in computer programs and skills.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Lift, Carry, Push, and Pull up to 25 lbs.

TRAVEL : up to 40% between 2 hotels

LOCATION : On-site work at each hotel property.
