Job Details
A hospital in California is looking for an experienced ICU nurse for a travel contract.
Job Requirements
- The right candidate will have 3 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and CA License.
- ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE CERNER EXPERIENCE.
- No first time travelers and no duos!
Schedule Information
- Shifts / Hours : 12's; 7a - 7 : 30p / 7p - 7 : 30a
- Breaks : 1 / 2 hour break (clock-out); 3 - 15 min breaks per shift (CA Law)
- Weekends : Every other weekend or equivalent of 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule (Example : could be 2 in a row, then off 2 in a row)
Unit Specific Information
- Unit : ICU and ICU-CV Recovery
- Certifications / Certs : ACLS & NIHSS are required.
- EMR System : Cerner required
- Backup as secretary : 24 / 7 monitor techs on this unit also help out as secretary, etc.
- USD in the patient rooms for direct care and monitoring
- Charge Nurse : Exists but rarely takes patients
- Orientation includes working in both East and West towers for floating purposes
- Medications administered include all cardiac & vasoactive drips, conscious sedation
- Vents maintained by Respiratory Therapy. RT 24 / 7 and Pharmacy 24 / 7 available. Dedicated pharmacist on the unit during weekdays.
- Variety of patients include those with respiratory failure, sepsis, AMI, ARDS, GI bleed, etc.
Additional Details
- Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation.
- Nurses must participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
