Director of Engineering, RF Microwave Aerospace

Our aerospace and electronics client delivers innovative design and manufacturing engineering capabilities for rugged commercial aviation, defense and space applications.

As Director of Engineering you will set the strategy and standards for the implementation of services for ensuring quality deliverables from both the in-house technical teams and external providers.

You will directly manage several local and remote teams of varied engineering disciplines working on various products.

You will be responsible for the overall engineering process for RF Microwave (MW) hardware development and adherence to applicable A&E standards and metrics.

Work with business development team to drive technology roadmap for RF MW engineering projects, including :

• Provide leadership and management for solution-wide RF MW product development and sustaining RF MW hardware programs and activities.
• Provide leadership efforts to enhance current products and develop new products and establish and maintain design guidelines and processes.
• Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of design activities.
• Support business proposals and engineering estimates for development and recurring costs on new programs.
• Establish and manage the department and operating plan budgets for IR&D, sustaining, funded engineering, and marketing support.
• Encourage and provide mentoring to new engineers, as well as provide the appropriate skill mix to sustain and grow the business and to meet customer requirements.
• Provide interface and direct / indirect support to outside suppliers, third party development activities, and customer product integration.
• Develop, enhance and maintain a core team as well as an external network of consultants, contractors and suppliers to support product development.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSEE or related technical bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in the RF Microwave field.
• 15 years of experience in product design and manufacturing.
• 10-15 years working with RF or Microwave technology
• Previous experience managing multiple teams.
• Demonstrated understanding of Military, Space and Commercial Aerospace standards, related processes, and industry supply standards and practices.
