Responsibilities : Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to develop electrical design concepts and specifications for building projects.
Design and layout electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems, using CAD software (e.
g., AutoCAD, Revit).Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short-circuit calculations to determine electrical system requirements and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.
g., NEC, NFPA).Select and specify electrical equipment, components, and materials based on project requirements, performance criteria, and budget considerations.
Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and construction documents for bidding, permitting, and construction purposes.
Review and evaluate shop drawings, submittals, and contractor proposals to verify compliance with design specifications and contract requirements.
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall building design and construction.
Provide technical support and guidance during the construction phase, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and resolving design issues as needed.
Conduct site surveys and assessments to identify existing conditions, constraints, and opportunities for electrical system improvements or upgrades.
Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in technology, and changes in regulatory requirements related to electrical engineering and MEP design.
Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.8+ years of experience in MEP electrical design, preferably in a consulting engineering or architectural firm.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other design tools commonly used in the industry.Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards (e.
g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE).Experience with electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM) and lighting design software (e.g., AGi32, Dialux) is a plus.
Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and MEP coordination processes.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement in all aspects of work.
