Position Summary

We are seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our Measurement Systems Group. In this position, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary and highly technical team acting as a subject matter expert, collaborating with peer engineers to develop cutting-edge industrial radar, 3D time-of-flight, and laser measurement sensors.

You will play a key role in all stages of product development, from initial technology evaluation and prototype design to successful release of final product.

This position will also play a crucial role in solving complex electrical design challenges, leading design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

This position reports to the Senior Technologist and is located onsite at our corporate headquarters in Plymouth, MN.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize industrial radar, 3D time-of-flight, and laser measurement sensors.
  • Researching and developing new designs based on broad concepts, utilizing components, subsystems, and systems for new and existing products in collaboration with all discipline areas
  • Determining the technical approach, development schedule, and projects cost
  • Directing the activities of all discipline engineers and technicians, acting as leader of medium-to-large engineering team
  • Establishing and documenting project and product requirements and formulating potential technical approaches for product line
  • Interfacing with internal and / or external customers as required
  • Developing product testing plans, documentation plans, and project schedules
  • Maintaining and reporting project statuses, interfacing with other organizations (manufacturing, procurement, sales, marketing) to ensure product reaches the market in a timely manner with the required features
  • Training and mentoring new and existing engineers across disciplines
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience(7+ with Master’s / PhD degree)
  • Experience working within an engineering team environment
  • Proven track record of collaborating within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Extensive working knowledge of digital and analog circuit design
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in product design for industrial applications
  • Strong verbal communication, data analysis, technical documentation, and presentation skills
  • Experience planning and leading projects
  • Able and willing to take ownership, adapt to changes, and be flexible in a fast moving, dynamic engineering environment
  • Proficiency in designing analog and digital circuits for microcontroller based product, emphasizing EMI performance, power efficiency, and cost optimization
  • Experience with FPGA and VHDL coding
  • Experience with time-of-flight and laser measurement technology
  • Experience with laser, VCSEL, laser drive circuit, photo detector and op-amp
  • Experience with PCB design and layout involving RF frequencies
  • Familiarity with CE, UL regulations, and other relevant industry standards
  • Experience with IEC functional safety standards
