Additional Requirements :
- Previous experience with EMR patientdocumentation system with intermediate knowledge and skill in theuse of a computer.
- Advance knowledge ofdisease processes diagnostic and surgical procedures InpatientICD10CM ICD10PCS HCPCS / CPT classification systems healthinformation / medical record department responsibilities withknowledge of government regulations and areas of scrutiny forpotential fraud and abuse issues.
- Advancedknowledge of medical terminology pharmacology and medial codingprinciples for ICD10CM ICD10PCS HCPCS / CPT and coding.
- Fluent in English demonstrating skill and proficiency inoral and written communication.
- Skills in timemanagement organization and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a significant workload and to workefficiently under pressure meeting established deadlines withminimal supervision.
- Ability to useindependent thought and judgement.
- Abides bythe Standards of Ethical Coding as set for by the American HealthInformation Management Association (AHIMA).
- Meets and maintains department standard for performanceproductivity and quality.
- Department willfurnish final candidate a coding skill test. The candidate will berequired to pass with a 75% or better on the test.
- Academic knowledge and working experience performingcoding and abstracting responsibilities in healthinformation / medical record services.
PreferredQualifications :
- Minimumfive (5) years of experience in health information / Medical recordenvironment with facility coding experience that includes Medicarereimbursement guidelines.
- Degree in HealthInformation Management.
- Proficient knowledgeand skill in the use of a computer and related system and softwareto include : EMR(s) Microsoft Office Suite and other softwareprograms.
- Ability to evaluate analyze developinformation regarding mathematical statistics and percentages thatcompare finding trends and outcomes related to productivity and / ore medical record audits.
- Extensiveknowledge of ICD10 coding guidelines; with knowledge anddemonstrated understand of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding and datavalidation requirements.
