Job Overview

The fiber optic design assistant will be responsible for assessing service areas for fiber optic

planning and design, preparing construction packages for issuance, and processing design

documents / data for project completion and closeout.

Responsibilities :

Communicate with team members via email, internal messaging systems, and remote web conferencing software where necessary.

Maintain and update internal project trackers and spreadsheets as required.

Assist in creating and modifying civil and cable drawings using CAD and / or GIS software.

Utilize all available tools to maintain high volume work output.

Escalate difficult issues as required to prevent delays in deliverables.

Ensure that deliverables produced adhere to client standards and specifications.

Adhere to the company's approved processes and procedures.

Other duties as required.

Skills / Requirements

Required Qualifications :

Possess logical reasoning to work through a problem and find a solution.

Computer literacy and efficiency with a focus on Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Must have a high attention to detail and ability to review their own work for compliance with client standards.

Must be able to interpret construction drawings.

Flexible and professional approach to work.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple tasks / assignments simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications :

1 or more years of utility industry experience.

Self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative.

Ability to handle competing priorities and apply prioritization of tasks for work completion.

Ability to train, coach, and share job knowledge with team members.

Ability to document work processes and compile process documents on how to complete job functions.
