Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
- The CT Technologist coordinates and produces quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assists in CT guided procedures.
- The technologist must demonstrate and exercise critical thinking skills, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy / physiology, radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration, specific to contrast media and adjunct medications.
- The technologist is responsible for the safe operation of sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures.
- The CT Technologist ensures accurate documentation and image transmission and storage, professional and effective communication, and demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate criteria when working with all patients, which include high risk and critically ill patients.
- Responsible for accurate charge capture and documentation.
- Population served includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatrics.
- Performs quality Computerized Tomography examinations for review the interpreting physician.
- Coordinates the performance of CT examinations according to physician order / protocol.
- Protocols the ordered examination according to established guidelines and clinical history.
- Performs venipuncture and medication administration with a focus on safety and effectiveness.
- ccurately documents care in the electronic health record (EHR).
- ssesses the patient prior to the performance of the study to ensure safety and cooperation.
- Educates the patient, answers all concerns / questions, prior to the execution of the CT exam.
- Demonstrates proficiency when working with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
Qualifications :
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- Successful graduation from a Joint Commission approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- ssociate's : Radiologic Sciences
- Must be knowledgeable in cross sectional anatomy and technical factors.
- Demonstrates proficiency with multiple computerized systems.
- Demonstrates proficiency when working with PACS to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with all Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements.
Certifications :
- RRT - Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire
- RRT - CT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire
- CRT-Certified Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire
- IV Certification Upon Hire
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
- RHF-Radiology Fluoroscopy within 180 Days of hire
Preferred :
Previous experience in an acute care facility is preferred.
