Position Summary

The Sr. Director of Product Management reports to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and carries the responsibility of overseeing and expanding all aspects of the card services product portfolio.

This role is crucial in driving the growth and success of our financial offerings customized to meet the needs of the underserved, non-prime consumer segment.

You will lead a high-performing, dynamic team and strategically collaborate with other cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies aimed at driving profitability and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Exceptional leadership and communication skills are essential to holistically shape profitable products to achieve company financial success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic Product Leadership
  • Develop a forward-looking card product strategy aligned with Purpose Money’s mission and goals, focused on empowering non-prime consumers.
  • Manage, revise, and communicate the product vision that integrates deep market insights, customer needs, and emerging industry trends.
  • Collaborate with the CPO to define and execute the overall product strategy and vision for the card services division.
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the product team, ensuring alignment with company goals and the needs of the non-prime consumer segment.
  • End-to-End Product Development
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of a profitable high-quality product.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Marketing to bring innovative products to market efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Market Insights & Customer Focus
  • Use customer feedback and market data to refine product offerings, ensuring they address the unique financial challenges and aspirations of our target audience.
  • Compliance & Risk Optimization
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to ensure product design has a strong focus on responsible lending practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risk management strategies to effectively manage potential risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Financial Stewardship & Growth
  • Establish and drive measurable OKRs related to product revenue, profitability, and market penetration, aligning them with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Utilize financial metrics and market analysis to inform data-driven decisions on enhancements and pricing strategies.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships / collaborations to enhance the product and drive growth.
  • Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product director(s), manager(s) and analyst(s), fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance product distribution, customer acquisition, and overall value proposition.
  • Act as a strong advocate for customer-centric product development and drive a passion for innovation within the team.

Education Required

Master’s degree in quantitative field (Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, and / or Business / Finance).

Experience Required

Proven experience of at least 7 years in consumer banking and / or consumer bank partnerships, ideally within the non-prime sector, along with successful leadership roles overseeing functions and leading high performing teams.

Knowledge Required

  • Demonstrated success managing financial products from inception to completion and achieving results at or above targets with specialized focus on non-prime lending and card services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management, compliance, and regulatory considerations specific to the financial landscape in which this role operates.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with experience directing and nurturing high-performing product teams aligned with the product’s mission.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret financial data and market insights to drive strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and people skills, including the ability to effectively present to executive committees and board members.
  • Skilled at fostering collaboration and driving stakeholder engagement across the Purpose Money ecosystem.
  • A passion for innovation and a relentless commitment to a customer-centric approach in product development.
