Responsibilities : Position Summary :

Position Summary :

Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to register patients, obtain necessary authorizations, verify the patient has a source of funding to cover services, and schedule patients for surgery.

Responds to patient inquiries and resolves any identified issues. Additionally, performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned outpatient clinical setting as necessary.

Required Qualifications :

Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing

Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back Office

General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes

Experience in surgical scheduling

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Demonstrated experience using MS Office

BLS within 30 days of hire

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings

Ability to regularly travel locally to Ambulatory Clinic off-site locations

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Familiarity of Joint Commission standards

Bilingual in English and Spanish
