Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing is responsible for leveraging their expertise to develop, maintain, and deliver education services to students thru creating and maintaining core curriculum, ensuring delivery of core curriculum, preparing course plans and material, supervising staff and oversight of the ADN and VN Programs. The Director of Nursing will monitor and manage student progress and attendance, student advising, and grade reporting. The Director of Nursing will also ensure continues compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional accreditation agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - ADN :
- Supervise and evaluate instructional staff.
- Direct advisory committee activities for program.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Ensures the consistent compliance with the regulations for the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners.
- Prepares and submits the required documents to the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners.
- Monitor instructor lesson plans and their posting.
- Screen instructional applicants.
- Review curriculum and textbooks with instructors, program managers, advisory board, and Campus President.
- Review student evaluations of instructors and programs, externship evaluations, employer surveys, and graduate surveys with the DOE / EC, and Campus President.
- Interview prospective students during enrollment process as needed.
- Conduct new student orientation as needed.
- Review completion and placement rates with Director of Career Services and Campus President.
- Schedules and conducts in-service training.
- Develops annual start date calendar.
- Assist registrar in maintaining employee and student records.
- Monitor TWC, federal and accrediting standards compliance.
- Adheres to academic policies / procedures for compliance.
- Assist with new program development.
- Assist with student advising.
- Assist Director of Education / Education Coordination with administrative functions.

Education / Experience :
Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
5 years teaching and / or administrative experience in a professional nursing program
Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas;Have been actively employed in nursing for the past five (5) years, preferably in administration or teaching, with a minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing education program;If the director or coordinator has not been actively employed in nursing for the past five (5) years, the director's or coordinator's advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and nursing administration and prior relevant nursing employment may be taken into consideration by Board Staff in evaluating qualifications for the position;Have a degree or equivalent experience that will demonstrate competency and advanced preparation in nursing, education, and administration;Have had five (5) years of varied nursing experience since graduation from a professional nursing education program;The director or coordinator may have responsibilities other than the program, provided that another qualified nursing faculty member is designated to assist with the program management; andA director or coordinator with responsibilities other than the program shall not have major teaching responsibilities.
