Responsibilities
Technician Ultrasound
The Radiology Tech is responsible for performing sonograms and assisting the radiologist during biopsy and general / vascular sonography exams.
Radiology Technicians are responsible for performing all appropriate procedures in the computer as needed i.e. scheduling exams, completing exams by computer terminal, and proper charging of supplies, etc.).
Essential Job Duties
Thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
Ability to perform general & vascular exams (arterial, carotids, etc.)
Ability to follow physician’s orders
Ability to pull related exams for doctor viewing
Must be able to perform sonography studies in an operating room setting
Performs Time Out on all procedures, ensures universal protocols are completed on all patients by utilizing two identifiers per TJC NPSG standard
Verbalizes and demonstrates, in clinical practice, HIPAA compliance and all safety practices as supported by organizational policy and procedure
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience as a sonographer at an acute care facility preferred.
- Diploma from a certified school of ultrasound or equivalent preferred
- ARDMS required
- RVT (registered vascular technologist) strongly preferred
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
