Job Title : EHS Engineer

Reports to : EHS Manager

Classification : Non-Exempt

Summary :

As an EHS Engineer in the North American region you will join a global team that is committed to safety. You will be part of a growing team that is focused to drive and innovate safety processes within our service organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

This role is responsible for the management of EVG North America Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) throughout the US region, supporting coordination with the Global EHS team.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each of the primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

  • Develop, plan, maintain and manage EHS program for US organization.
  • Analysis of EHS metrics discovering trends and drive improvement plans to closure minimizing risk while improving performance.
  • Implement and maintain safety incident and health case reporting.
  • Partner with local management to maintain Emergency Response Programs
  • Assist with creation and maintain practices, procedures, training, and management controls to ensure all work is arranged and executed in a safe manner.
  • Develops local quality and safety program for US organization that supports customer and Global EHS requirements.
  • Participation in internal audits to ensure compliance with EVG Global policies as well as occupational safety and health regulations and customer requirements at customer locations.
  • Provide introductory safety training and refresher trainings.
  • Assist with the development of Pre-Task-Plans which includes working with Engineers and Subject Matter Experts for all work where procedures do not exist.
  • Manage site Safety Walk program and drive resolution for any findings including proliferation of learning and associated training for all personnel.
  • Partner with Facilities and Construction Trades to mitigate risk and maintain a safe work environment throughout the full equipment installation process.
  • Collaboration with internal EHS team members

Additional Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Ensure safety talks and safety training for all visitors are held prior to entering the customer site.
  • Badging of new staff members and visitors
  • Responsible for facility walk through and facility sign off at customer site.
  • Keeps informed and trained on the company’s most current systems, methods, and procedures.
  • Keeps up with safety related training for all staff members.
  • Mentors, trains, and aids, less experienced personnel.
  • Exhibits good housekeeping practices in all work areas.

Qualifications / Education / Skills and Experience

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three (3) years of experience within manufacturing or equipment environment.
  • Occupational health and safety experience in semiconductor fabs or other high-tech industry
  • Strong customer support and interpersonal skills to be able to interface with US Service Organization and customers under stressful conditions while maintaining a professional demeanor, respect, and courtesy at all times.
  • Ability to communicate and demonstrate professional conduct with all levels of Management and personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must possess skills that can assist with cross-functional team building.
  • Must have strong negotiation skills and understanding of other cultures.
  • Must have strong PC skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows
  • Must be able to work extended hours and / or flexible shifts, as required.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally overnight, as needed, up to 50% of the time. Must possess a valid passport.

Physical Demands :

While performing duties of this job, individual is regularly required to stand, sit, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift / move up to 50 pounds.

Visual acuity required. Individual is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls frequently and be able to reach with hand and arms above shoulder level occasionally.

Ability to wear proper cleanroom attire and work inside the fab / cleanroom up to 30% of the time.
