Description
Emory Law seeks a seasonal Academic Technology Specialist 1 to support the IT infrastructure used in the daily operations of Emory Law.
As a key member of IT Staff, the specialist works collaboratively with other members of IT to deliver consistent, excellent IT support to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
This seasonal position is a 10-month position working annually from August 1 through May 31. The position works on-site from 10 .
to 7 . (with a one-hour lunch) from Monday through Friday.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
- Maintains technologies that support the teaching and learning mission of the University.
- Deploys technology hardware and / or software applications via in-person and virtual assistance for students, faculty, staff and selected guests.
- Supports and utilizes monitoring tools to troubleshoot incidents and enhance the availability of services.
- Participates in the development and assessment of academic technologies and supports learning-based technologies in multiple formats.
- Performs equipment refreshes and hardware installations; troubleshoots to identify issues and initiate fixes and resolutions.
- Supports campus network access to support computers and mobile devices; coordinates with vendors and contractors to meet customer needs for out-sourced technology support.
- Maintains any required auxiliary equipment pools to supplement and / or replace deployed equipment and technologies.
- Performs testing, inspection and monitoring to assure established expectations are met.
- Conducts orientations and training sessions to build user skills; assists UTS and Emory staff to support back-to-school efforts and related events.
- Researches new products to remain current with market trends and recent technology requirements, and provides product recommendations to ensure effective operability and customer satisfaction.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS :
- Coordinate with internal event manager to provide AV support for various school-related events, including videography and videoconferencing.
- Manage server-based platform to monitor and update computers as needed.
- Assist the desktop support team as needed and when available for client-facing troubleshooting, as well as computer imaging and deployment.
- Manage the Student Help Desk, including updating the Help Desk manual and overseeing the student printers.
- Perform a daily walkthrough of classrooms to confirm classroom technology is functioning properly.
- Assist professors on an as-needed basis with PowerPoint, Word and other teaching applications.
- Have good PC desktop troubleshooting skills.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Some evening and weekend work is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience with IT, Instructional Technology, A / V Event Support Services, Video Technologies, or other related fields is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows 10 and 11, and Mac products.
- Outstanding data management, administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with employees of various technological skill levels.
- Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies to enhance task performance.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to initiate and follow-through with minimal supervision as well as meet deadlines, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, be part of a collegial team and balance competing assignments necessary.
- Demonstrated good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Availability for some evening and weekend work required with advance notice.
- Experience working in or demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive environment.
- Experience in higher education information technology.
