ORC (Operations Risk Compliance) is looking for a Senior Manager, Product Manager - Technical for driving its strategic vision to effectively scale its classification processes while building optimal technical infrastructure.

In this role, we are looking for a Senior Technical Leader to lead initiatives across programs panning several verticals, and geos.

This role is inherently cross-functional the incumbent will work with Operations, Tech and Product teams across multiple VP organizations in an agile environment.

The role holder would partner with senior stakeholders across GSRC Product and Operations Teams, Operations Risk Compliance (ORC) Program Teams, and Platform and Regional Tech teams to build Amazon-scale compliance solutions.

A successful candidate will have experience driving strategic vision, presenting to executive leadership, influencing direction across a broad suite of technical products while staying connected to the details and prioritizing the most impactful work.

They will earn the confidence of cross-functional stakeholders, be data-driven, and have an eye for identifying opportunities in a complex technical environment.

They will be willing to experiment, fail fast, learn and iterate to improve. They will recognize and account for the implications of their decisions to frontline operations and business risk.

They will also have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse business and technical partners to shape our technology.

Key job responsibilities

  • This PMT leader in GSRC will work with Tech, Product Managers, BIEs, and TPMs to develop the product strategy and architectural design acceptance criteria.
  • Lead the team to define vision based on various needs and deliver a PRFAQ / strategy / 3year vision document to solve the needs.

Stay in tune with the ground truth through monthly sprint planning across tech and ops teams.

  • Work with all ORC verticals to build a deep knowledge of program specific compliance needs and corresponding business requirements and technical acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with software development managers, engineers and business stakeholders across different teams on a daily basis to define system architecture, elaborate user stories and discuss business and technical trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Program, Product and Tech teams to design scalable technical solutions to meet the business requirements, operational constraints and architectural possibilities.
  • Own XBR metrics and reviews. Analyze program and project metrics, and performance of the technical design adopted to discover trends and future resource allocation.
  • Hiring and developing a high performing team of PM-Ts, TPMs, BIEs and PMs
  • Organizing customer research and studies to inform new tech investments.

In addition to excellent technical skills the ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, exemplary communication skills, an ability to work effectively with cross functional teams, and an ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.

The ORC organization keeps our customers and partners safe, protect associates, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance for Amazon.

GSRC is the operational arm of ORC. GSRC partners with worldwide program teams to classify products and ensure Amazon’s product listings follow regulatory and legal compliance guidelines.

GSRC supports regulatory compliance requirements for Amazon’s worldwide programs such as Dangerous Goods, Global Trade Services, Food Safety and Extended Producer Responsibility, Transport Risk Compliance and Environment Assurance Program.

GSRC has offices across India, China, Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Jordan, and Costa Rica and supports compliance related needs for worldwide Amazon marketplaces.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS / MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.- Proven experience in product management of multiple initiatives with competing priorities and influencing multiple diverse stakeholders (business, tech, executives).
  • 5+ years of technical product management / technical program management / software dev / data science experience
  • Experience in owning / driving roadmap strategy and making architectural choices with dev teams
  • Experience authoring effective narratives such as business and technical requirements, PRFAQs, XBRs, operating plans
  • Experience in driving feature tradeoffs, product launches, bug fixes and handling escalations
  • Experience in defining input and output metrics and measuring progress periodically, driving product adoption . Strong written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a technical domain
  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience working on ML / AI related domains
  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, QuickSight, SQL etc

  • 10+ years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience as a product manager or owner
