About The Position
A pharmacist is a healthcare professional who is responsible for dispensing prescription medications to patients and providing information and advice about their use.
Pharmacists also advise healthcare providers about drug therapy and interact with patients to ensure their safe and effective use of medications.
Some of the typical duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist include : Dispensing prescription medications to patients based on their prescription or medication order from a healthcare provider.
Monitoring patient medication therapy to ensure safe and effective use of medications, including checking for drug interactions and adverse effects.
Providing information and advice to patients about their medications, including proper dosing, administration, storage, and potential side effects.
Collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize drug therapy and resolve any medication-related issues.Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient medication records.
Compounding and preparing medications as needed, such as customized dosages or specialized formulations.Managing and overseeing the operations of the pharmacy, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies, managing inventory, and supervising pharmacy staff.
Educating patients and the public about health and wellness, disease prevention, and medication safety.Adhering to legal and ethical standards related to pharmacy practice, including patient confidentiality and recordkeeping.
Pharmacists must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and pass a licensure exam to practice. They may work in a variety of settings, including retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
