Superior Tire Service has been providing exceptional sales, support, and service to wheelpersons and their passenger, fleet, specialty, and OTR vehicles for over 60 years.

We are looking for a full-time, contract to hire position in our Portland, Oregon location.
What will you do as a TIA Certified - Route and Fleet Service Tire Technician?
- Perform tire safety and wear assessments, flat tire repairs, and air pressure service as required.
- Dismount, rotate, and mount / re-mount tires for inspection, retread, installation, and repair.
- Perform wheel service to include bolting and unbolting, installation, removal, and service as required.
- Operate and utilize power tools, compressed air tools, manual tools to include torque wrenches as required adhering to our rigorous safety standards
- Operate balancing machines, determining the required counterweighting to balance and calibrate the assembly. Use of hammers to install the counterweights into wheels as required
- Raise and lower vehicles utilizing hydraulic jacks
- Repair : Valve stem replacement and repair, removal of foreign objects from the tire / wheel, visual inspection of tires, submersion of tires into water baths, ad hoc repairs as required.
- Fleet : Tire inspections, bump checks, and recommendations for service and repair to ensure both quality and safety standards.
- Service and Roadside Assistance : Daily, weekly, and monthly on-call roadside assistance; scheduled and ad hoc service calls as needed by the business and customers.
Provide roadside assistance as requested. On-call shifts have a supplemental pay scheme in addition to your standard wage.
- Other Responsibilities to include yet not limited to safety, cleanliness, and organization of service fleet trucks, maintenance of written work orders, documentation, and orders, ability to take verbal guidance and direction, maintain a professional service standard to all customers.
- Safety and Standards : Operate all tools, equipment, building fixtures, and service trucks within the established safety protocols, appropriate use of PPE as required by local and state laws, accuracy in work and product applications and standards, maintenance of a safe and clean working environment, accurate timekeeping, maintain a punctual attendance, safety, and service standard.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a practicum period of one hundred days (100). After the practicum period, continuation options could include full-time, contractual, permanent, and flexible employment possibilities
When / Where will you work?
Our service days run between 7 : 00am and 5 : 30pm M-F and 7 : 00am - 2 : 00pm Saturdays with flexible scheduling, a five (5) day work week, and opportunities to pick-up Night Fleet service calls for supplemental pay,.
We are based in Portland, the service area is within SW Washington, the north Willamette Valley, I-5, south to Wilsonville, west to the coast, north to Longview, and east out the I-84.

Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, to assess and best support customer’s needs, and partner with other team members as needed.
Requirements?
A valid driver’s license, insurable with our fleet insurance carrier, ability to lift 50-lbs, strong physical dexterity, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, ability to operate hand, power, and air compression / hydraulic tools, successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Certifications?
TIA certification strongly preferred. Ongoing TIA certification is a mandatory requirement. CDL strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment?
Employees are regularly required to lift 50-lbs, stand, walk, use of both hands, arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as required.
Employees are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, vibrations, working near moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles, possible exposure risk to electrical shock, elevated noise and sounds within the working environment.
