Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in

a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Teach college-level Communication Studies classes at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA ).

Courses may be taught during daytime, evening and / or Saturday hours.

Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and / or up to 8 credit hours during summer session.

Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's / Required Qualifications Required KSAs :

  • Adept knowledge of instructional technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Successful passing of a criminal background check
  • Adjunct faculty are required to meet assigned classes on meeting dates, submit required grade records and reports, student learning outcomes.
  • Flexibility to teach in the daytime, evening, or a combination of both

Minimum Qualifications : Masters degree in Communication Studies or Speech Communication, OR Masters degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Communication Studies or Speech Communication.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications :

T eaching experience and coursework in intercultural communication preferred.
