POSITION SUMMARY :

The Senior Factory Hygienist is the guardian of food safety and hygiene at the factory providing leadership and support in achieving the business objectives.

Ensure implementation and execution of Factory Industrial Hygiene program requirements to ensure compliance to Nestle corporate principles, regulatory concerns, and interna / external standards with particular focus on cleaning and disinfection programs, integrated pest management, microbiology, allergen, and foreign body management systems, hygienic / sanitary design principles and hygienic zoning.

Provide operational technical support, in design and continuous improvement activities, across differing manufacturing processes in industrial hygiene and food safety programs.

Ensure the factory cleaning and disinfection programs are effectively implemented, validated, maintained, and verified to ensure that all products are manufactured in a sanitary and wholesome environment.

Lead in identifying preventive and corrective actions for factory hygiene-related issues, including through use of data review and trending, with focus on loss analysis and factory operational objectives.

Serve as primary contact to third party hygiene technical resource representatives (sanitation and pest management), drive accountability to contractual obligations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assure Food Safety and Compliance

Ensure adherence to all Company principles and policies as well as local laws and regulations. Ensure compliance to food safety, hygiene and regulatory requirements (national and international).

Responsible to ensure hygiene related elements of the factory food safety management systems are implemented and maintained.

Ensure adherence to good hygienic practices at the factory.

New project support and guidance, particularly adherence to hygienic design principles

Support problem solving and solution development relating to non-conformances with regard to specific food safety areas.

Strive for Zero Defect & No Waste

Support the quality failures analysis and initiatives to eliminate the defects related to food safety and hygiene performance.

Promote sharing of best practices across the organization.

Liaise with other functions to drive continuous improvement.

Support water savings environmental projects through manual and CIP sanitation initiatives.

Ensure Consistency

Ensure mitigation of food safety and quality issues through interaction with AGs.

Ensure validation of hygiene related programs where appropriate to facilitate successful system design.

Support the correct utilization of problem-solving tools to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Ensure development of competencies in Quality and Food Safety

Promote food safety awareness across the factory.

Develop food safety and quality training at factory floor level, as well as visitor and contractor, hygiene training.

Participate and actively engage to the Nestle expert networks in hygiene and food safety.

Ensure development of people through coaching and training.

Convey corporate culture and management principles at all levels.

Foster a healthy employee relations climate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION :

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred microbiology, life science-related studies, engineering)
  • Manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Can include off shift hours and occasional weekend work to ensure delivery of role responsibilities (Ex. Verifying cleaning activities taking place on 3rd shift)

EXPERIENCE :

  • 3 - 5 years food manufacturing experience
  • HACCP or Food Safety
  • CIP or specialized sanitation

SKILLS :

  • Participation in hygienic design evaluations.
  • Demonstrated capability to influence stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams and different initiatives.
  • Capable of developing and delivering training to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Coaching and problem solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
