We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) to step into the role of Clinical Supervisor and lead our dedicated team.

Position : Registered Nurse / Clinical Supervisor I

What You'll Do : As a Registered Nurse / Clinical Supervisor I, you'll play a vital role in leading staff in delivering safe patient care.

This role functions as a clinical expert, resource, and role model for customer service. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for adjusting shift schedules, facilitating patient throughput, and staff workflow to meet patient care needs.

Critical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration with patients, families, staff, and physicians are essential to achieving care goals and desired outcomes.

What We're Looking For :

  • Experience :
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting relevant to the department.
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred; minimum one (1) year charge nurse experience required if hired / transferred into PACU.
  • Meets CN III requirements or will meet them within 90 days of hire / appointment.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking, enunciating, and writing.
  • Education :
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required
  • Licensure / Certifications :
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Must complete and maintain BLS certification.
  • Must complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment.
  • RNC preferred in specialty area(s).
  • Active involvement as a leader / participant in a hospital-wide committee or council.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Patient Care Facilitation :
  • Demonstrates advocacy for the patient / customer and acknowledges patients, customers, and visitors appropriately.
  • Follows and serves as a resource for policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Participates in hospital-wide committees and councils for two-way information sharing.
  • Implements and monitors evidence-based practice strategies for patient care improvement.
  • Promotes a positive environment to facilitate the optimal patient experience.
  • Serves as a patient experience champion by rounding on all patients and their families, ensuring care boards reflect the patient's plan of care, and addressing concerns / complaints timely.
  • Clinical Mentorship :
  • Acts as a clinical resource by providing routine assistance / support at the bedside and in emergencies.
  • Facilitates conflict resolution promptly.
  • Follows the chain of command in addressing emergencies.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource, assisting new staff with clinical orientation.
  • Shift Supervision :
  • Assists with scheduling, and balancing staff experience and competency for cost-effective assignments.
  • Ensures the availability of supplies and equipment for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Utilizes SBAR for hand-off reports during shift changes.
  • Communicates important problems / issues to the manager / director / operations supervisor.
  • Delegates and coordinates tasks / functions of RNs, students, CNAs, constant observers, and unit secretaries.
  • Initiates the Chain of Command Policy when needed.
  • Leads / participates in huddles, charge, staff, and unit-based council meetings.
  • Manages workload cost-effectively by adjusting staffing levels in alignment with the patient census.
  • Monitors patient care to ensure personal hygiene and safety needs are met.
  • Partners with staff to address and resolve patient, family, physician, and visitor concerns / complaints.
  • Provides feedback for staff and new graduate nurse performance evaluations.
  • Serves as a liaison between physicians and the clinical care team.
  • Patient Throughput Facilitation :
  • Manages patient flow with a proactive approach, anticipating the next patient stable for transfer.
  • Places patients from ED / PACU / direct admits and other areas promptly.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in daily bed board and All Bed Crisis (ABC) meetings.
  • Orchestrates patient transfers to the next level of care and communicates delays effectively.
  • Performance Improvement and Quality Compliance :
  • Ensures completion and reporting of appropriate reports and documentation before the end of the shift.
  • Follows up with occurrence reports.
  • Identifies systems or processes for performance improvement, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performs chart / computer audits and Performance Improvement activities as requested.
  • Oversees chart / computer checks for documentation requirements, missed orders, and medical record accuracy.
  • Professional Development :
  • Attends and actively participates in CNIII / charge nurse development and informational meetings.
  • Complies with charge nurse and behavioral expectations at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
  • Exhibits professionalism in appearance, conduct, communication, and behavior appropriate to the situation.
