We are seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Tennessee team! Come join us!

The successful candidate will perform on-site construction inspections of various transportation-related construction projects, including major bridge and highway projects.

Project locations will be within Region I of the Tennessee Department of Transportation in and around Johnson City and Erwin, Tennessee.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Perform on-site construction inspections for conformance to plans and specifications for all roadway, structures, and specialty items being incorporated into the project.
• Record the daily work in SiteManager documenting the type and location of work performed, each contractor’s labor and equipment, and all pertinent details relative to the progress of the work
• Observe, measure, and record quantities for payment.
• Perform daily traffic control inspections
• Perform quality assurance sampling and testing
• Ensure projects meet compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local rules / regulations and client contract provisions
• Inspect and monitor work progress on-site and communicate daily with TDOT, contractor, and other field personnel
• Provide photographic documentation of the work in progress, including if / when unforeseen conditions, disputed work, or deficiencies in the work are encountered

Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

High school diploma / GED required.

18 months of progressive experience as a construction inspector on highway / bridge construction projects.

Certifications : At a minimum the following are required :

OSHA 10 Safety Training Construction

TDOT Field Concrete Technician

TDEC EPSC Level 1

TTAP Work Zone Traffic Control

TDOT asphalt roadway technician

Technical Requirements :

• Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, specifications, and inspection procedures
• Knowledge of highway construction, inspection procedures, and materials testing
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to take detailed notes and prepare and review reports
• Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including geometry, trigonometry, averages, and percentages.
