About The Position
Job Title : X-Ray Technician Job Specialty : Radiology Diagnostic Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 6 pm to 6 am, or 12 midnight to 12 noon, 5x8 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 37.
50 hours per week Experience : No experience required License : N.Y. State Dept. of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist Certifications : American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have : Competency in performing diagnostic procedures, excellent communication skills in a team environment, quality focus, planning, people skills, dependability, creating a safe, effective environment Job Description : Operate or oversee the operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures and adhere to safety measures to ensure compliance with regulations and the safety of patients and staff.
- Establish personal rapport with patients to identify service requirements by reducing anxieties and providing explanations of treatments.
- Position patients, adjust immobilization devices, move equipment into specified positions, and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Practice radiation protection techniques, use beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and apply knowledge of exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Follow established infection control policies and procedures.- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures;
process radiographs and observe radiographic results, making necessary adjustments.- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, including the completion and verification of exams.
- Ensure the operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.- Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by meeting regulatory CME requirements, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.- Complete yearly Age Specific Competency.- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
