Rogers Group is currently seeking an individual for a Credit Research Specialist in our Louisville, KY office reporting to the Area Manager of Credit and Collections.
The successful candidate will be responsible for timely research and resolution of a variety of customer related requests and issues including billing discrepancies and payment problems.
Job Responsibilities :
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve customer discrepancies. Research billing issues by examining invoices, corrections and price quotes.
Effectively communicate findings to both the credit manager and customer. Research cash application issues including reviewing check and remittance copies, using math skills to find the problem and / or working with the customer on what they intended to pay.
Effectively communicate findings to the credit manager, cash applications administrator and customer. Initiate and follow through all dispute resolutions to their completion.
- Process credit applications to determine level of credit risk and recommend a credit line based on analysis of credit bureaus and information obtained by contacting trade references, internal sales staff and online resources.
- Manage sales tax issues : Investigating legitimately of sales tax short pays and following through on resolutions Acting as a liaison between the customer and Rogers Group tax department by obtaining proper tax exemption certificates.
- Examine, prepare and return customer lien waivers and necessary legal documentation.
- Handle customer requests for invoice copies, proof of delivery, W-9 forms, new vendor forms, certificate of insurance and the like.
- Assist in the timely collection of designated past due account balances by making systematic follow up communication with customers via phone calls, emails and .
mail, documenting in the AR system any significant customer comments, agreements and updates.
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Meet defined department goals and activity metrics.
- Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable and Credit & Collection Department.
Qualifications :
- Associates / bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field, preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong math skills and analytical thinking.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Billing and Collections policies, practices and procedures.
- Account Reconciliation 1 year (required).
- Patience and ability to manage stress.
- Experience with Construction Lien and Payment Bond lien waiver procedures a plus.
- Candidates possessing 5+ years of collections experience, a high school diploma and meet other qualifications listed, may be considered.
