Summary

Due to the Pandemic, and individual states with different phases of reopening, your report date to your official duty station / facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace.

You may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is safe to relocate.

Responsibilities

Serves as a Staff Support Specialist (MSS-1) at an ATC-6 Terminal facility. Responsible for tactical, strategic, and administrative support of multiple program areas such as training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, safety management system, safety reporting and other areas of specialty identified collaboratively at the local level.

The work requires a comprehensive knowledge of the ATC field and familiarization with the many integral components of the industry which comprise the National Airspace System.

Specialists must have the ability to apply this knowledge to the analysis, evaluation and development of new methods, studies, approaches, and procedures.

The Staff Support Specialist must be knowledgeable of agency wide programs, facility goals and objectives. Must be able to communicate clearly and tailor their message to the target audience.

While not required, hardware / software experience is desirable. Some travel will be required.

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12 / 31 / 1959.

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as :

1. Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J / FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR

2. Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility NOTE : An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility who is upgraded is considered to have met the qualification requirements of the higher-level position, since he / she has been performing the higher-graded work ; OR

3. Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility reference NOTE above .

IN ADDITION to meeting the qualification requirements above,Revision 1, MSS Qualification Requirements for AT-2152 Terminal and En Route Positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.

For this particular position, applicants must currently hold or have held the position of CPC, TMC / TMS, for at least 1 year (52 weeks) or a FAA 2152 FV-J / FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region position for at least 1 year (52 weeks).
