Position Introduction

We’re looking for an energetic, experienced and thoughtful leader to join the enrollment team at Saint Mary’s College as the Director of Admission .

This position provides day-to-day supervision for the undergraduate and graduate recruitment teams for the Office of Admission at Saint Mary’s College.

Job Description

The Director of Admission will plan, manage and supervise traditional undergraduate and graduate recruitment activities for the College.

For undergraduate (approximately 70% of the responsibility), the position will oversee the campus visit program as well as off-campus events for both undergraduate and graduate, the admission and decisioning operation and processes for both teams, and will make data-informed decisions to ensure successful enrollment for both populations.

For undergraduate (approximately 70% of the focus), the position will collaborate closely with our Director of Operations, Systems and Analytics who manages marketing for the undergraduate team.

For graduate (approximately 30% of the focus), the position, along with a team, will manage all recruitment and admission efforts, including the marketing and communication campaigns for the graduate programs.

The Director of Admission will develop and recommend policies and approve procedures necessary for the Office to function in an efficient and effective way, chair the Admission and Scholarship Committees which evaluate applicants, in accordance with policies of the College, for admission of first-year and transfers students and work closely with the program directors of the graduate programs on admission for graduate students, and direct the College’s recruitment efforts to achieve goals for both enrollment and quality indicators, and to evaluate recruitment and enrollment strategies on an ongoing basis.

The Director of Admission will work collaboratively with the VP for Student Enrollment and Engagement, the Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing and the Director of Financial Aid to achieve fiscal goals tied to enrollment, assist the Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing and the VP of Student Enrollment and Engagement and other senior leadership on policy decisions, and be responsible for the selection, training, motivation, and evaluation of admission staff.

The Director of Admission will oversee management of recruitment travel efforts for the counseling staff work with the Associate Director of Admission to make data-driven decisions on where to travel and direct and guide the staff who manage recruitment territories, work closely with the Assistant Director, Campus Visits on the entire visit plan for the Office of Admission, including daily visits and on-campus and off-campus events, lead individual and group presentations, both on and off-campus, and determine the most effective utilization of departmental budget;

develop and monitors fiscal procedures within established and approved measures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess college admission and recruitment leadership experience, ideally at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Candidate must possess a proven track record of successful college recruitment experience, preferably within a liberal art setting
  • Experience with event planning and hands-on printed publication development and marketing experience
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to the values associated with a Catholic, liberal arts, residential, women’s college
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills, as well as familiarity with traditional, online and web-based recruitment strategies and trends
  • Clear ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of increasing responsibility within the Admission profession, and have earned a bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the admission profession
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to an Office of Admission and to balance responsibilities between both graduate and undergraduate efforts
  • Admission, recruitment and / or marketing experience, ideally at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Ability to empower employees to grow as leaders
  • Experience working with vendors and partners outside the college in an effort to meet institutional goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all constituencies, including alumnae, faculty, students and staff
  • Ability to speak Spanish

Schedule

40 Hours / 12 Months / Monday Friday
