About The Position
Summary :
- A Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nurse provides nursing care to patients with critical heart conditions and issues.
- A CVICU nurse are pivotal member of an emergency medical care team and must be able to use specialized skills to prevent disease, help patients recover from surgery, and stabilize critically injured patients.
- Reports to the Supervisor of the Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Efficient management of postoperative care for patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG, including off-pump CABG), cardiac valve repair / replacement (including minimally invasive approaches), surgical treatment of arrhythmias, aortic deficiency.
- Proficient interpreting EKG and being part of a Cardiac Code Team.
- Observe changes in their patients, analyze charts, change bandages, and communicate effectively with doctors and health care professionals.
Education & Experience Requirements :
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, with current licensure in good standing.
- Evidence of current AHA BLS and ACLS required, TNCC preferred.
- Evidence of current one year of CVICU experience.
