Education : Master’s degree required in social work, counseling, family therapy, or closely related field; may be licensed as a clinical social worker, family therapist or mental health counselor.
Licensure : Licensure not required; Licensed or license eligible preferred
Experience : Experiencing working with adults, children and families in need of mental health service.
Non-Exempt
Must be 21 years of age.
Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF, and Must have valid Florida Driver’s License Motor Vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.

Working Conditions : Work is in office. Schedule includes evenings.

Job Duties :
This position provides individual, group and family counseling services.
Provides services that are consistent with the program methodology and in conformance with all program standards. Demonstrates flexibility in support of the overall mission of the agency on a countywide basis.
Provides services in a manner that encourages the increase of social support and the use of natural support systems for adults, children and families
Provides therapy services which are culturally component, strength based, and Solution Focused, and respond to the goals set by the individual or family needing and requesting counseling services.
Provides solution-focused therapy for adults, children and families that is consistent with evidence based practiced. Uses respectful and strength-based words and actions with individuals and families.
Discusses individuals and families with supervisors and peers in an appropriate manner.
Uses Feedback Informed Treatment with all clients within 6 months of employment
Understands that using FIT measures will be part of employee’s performance evaluation. The scores on the ORS and SRS will not be monitored as part of the evaluation, only the use of the measures will be evaluated.
Assists adults, children and families in developing specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound goal planning.
Be able to recognize and apply interventions to address a Co-Occurring diagnosis.
Be able to recognize and apply interventions to address trauma. Provide trauma informed care.
Provides group therapy to adults, children and families.
Ensures the program objectives are met by completing the Diagnosis, GAF / CGAS and Goal Attainment Scale scores at intake, and at six month intervals or when the individual / families discontinue services.
Completes all documentation in the required time frame (clinical documents, reports, outcomes enrollment, discharges). Ensures that all documentation specific to Department of Children and Families and all relevant program funders is completed in the required time frame.
Reports all risks to supervisor and ensures that risk notes and safety plans are completed as appropriate.
Participates fully in bi-weekly supervision with program manager; reviews treatment techniques, case progress, and job performance.
Meets productivity standard of 60% which is a minimum of 100 client hours per month.
Remains current in the general knowledge of psychotropic medications, side-effects and DSM diagnostic criteria. Ensures that therapy is the first intervention.
Coordinates efforts between multiple service providers when appropriate and consented to. Including assessing and making referrals for medical, substance use disorders and any other need that arises.
Participates in agency committees based on employee’s self interest and needs within the agency.
