The Behavioral Health Nurse Educator is responsible for assessing the educational needs of nursing staff, students, and others to plan and deliver orientation and continuing education.
This role serves as a mentor, monitors clinical competencies, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, the Nurse Educator participates in the development of standards of nursing care practice and may provide direct patient care to select patients.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs
- Assess staff and student nursing practice to identify educational needs
- Provide individualized orientation and competency evaluation for new employees
- Conduct in-service programs and provide individualized instruction
- Collaborate with Nurse Leadership to develop and implement employee improvement plans
- Participate in the development of standards of nursing care practice
- Comply with all training and competency requirements
Education / Experience Requirements :
- Minimum 2 years in area of specialty
- Preferred : Master's degree in Nursing
Licensure / Certification Requirements :
- Valid and unrestricted NY State nursing license
- Preferred : AHA BLS and / or ACLS Instructor certification, Certification in area of specialty
