Overview Performs maintenance and repairs work in all general areas, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and the ability to prioritize.

Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance on a daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual basis, depending on equipment.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, renovating, and construction of plumbing distribution and fixtures steam distribution and heating.

Performs all required inspections, and testing and preventative maintenance on all the plumbing systems. Strong knowledge of NFPA 25, 70, 72, 99, and 110.

Good working knowledge of State and local codes and their application in healthcare. Qualifications HEALTH SERVICES JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER I EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT High School diploma or general education degree (GED);

no exceptions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least three (3) years of experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

Must possess and maintain a valid State-issued Journeyman Plumber's license. Must obtain CPR within six (6) months of hire.

  • HEALTH SERVICES JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER II EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Associates degree from a 2-year college or technical school;
  • or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional three (3) years of journeyman-level plumbing experience required.

COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. WORK HOURS : 7AM-4PM LOCATION : KASCO BUILDING TAHLEQUAH

Oversees all plumbing activity in the Cherokee Nation Health Care facility and properties. Uses blueprints, sketches, and drawings to renovate, construct, and install new equipment and existing equipment.

Inspects major piping systems and sub-systems regularly and performs preventative maintenance and repairs as required in compliance with established standards and codes as related to renovation and construction work required in compliance with established standards and codes as related to renovation and construction work for health care facilities.

Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs major plumbing breakdowns for such equipment like boilers, pipes, pipe fittings, and fixtures and air compressors, pumps, reducing stations, traps, valves, and heaters, medical gas and oxygen lines in areas that are renovated, and new construction work.

Assists in general maintenance of buildings and grounds as directed. May monitor the Energy Management System program. Assists in maintaining the parts and supply inventory for plant equipment and reports supply requirements.

Provide technical guidance and direction to maintenance staff. Performs other related duties as assigned. Perform water treatment program to central energy plant.

Repair kitchen equipment. Repair and service ice machines. Perform preventative maintenance on medical air, medical suction, and medical gas systems.

Installs, repairs, and maintains air, gas, sewer, and steam lines and systems. Cuts, bends, and threads pipe, fitting valves and couplings to pipe sections by screwing, bolting, or soldering.

Installs pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, emergency eyewashes, special laboratory equipment, water heaters, etc.

roughing-in when needed. Repairs and cleans sewer pipes and clear clogged lines. Installs, maintains, and repairs domestic water pumps, water piping lines, water filters, and plumbing fixtures.

Repairs and maintains steam stations, valves, heating, and condensation return stations and sewer and storm drains. Tests fire system valves, tamper switches, fire pumps, and dry deluge fire systems.

  • Maintains the piping and supply of cylinder and bulk medical gas systems. Uses the latest techniques to cut, fix, and connect copper, plastic, rubber, vinyl, neoprene, aluminum, and stainless steel tubing;
  • cut, thread, and fit black, galvanized, and brass pip; cut and fit galvanized and black pipe used grooved (Victaulic) coupling connectors;
  • cut, fit and solder copper and brass pipe; cut, fit and join glass pipe; cut, fit and connect various plastic pipe; cut, fit and connect cast iron pipe;

use the latest compression techniques and tools (ProPress) for joining copper and bronze pipe. Able to work independently with minimal or no supervision.

Accurately complete all required documentation including but not limited to the Infection Control Risk Assessment, Alternative Life Safety Measures, etc.

for compliance with Cherokee Nation Health policies and procedures and other authorities having jurisdiction including but not limited to Health Care Facilities Accreditation Program, DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Review DNV findings and identify missing or incorrect documentation against Health Care Facilities Accreditation Program, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other applicable standards and take appropriate corrective action to ensure DNV reports meet current standards.

Regular on-call duties and responds to weekend, holiday, and after-hours emergencies. Must be able to work in confined spaces, in areas of heat / cold extremes, in inclement weather, and assist in unrelated tasks when required.

Must be able to adapt to changing environments. Employee actively participates and / or serves in supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and / or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Minimal supervisory responsibility (i.e. lead position).
