Patient Care Technician

Alton Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for its Telemetry Unit.

Schedule : 24 hours per week

Shift : Days 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 30 PM

Holiday Rotation

Every other weekend required

Sign-On Bonus Eligible : $500

Benefits Eligible

Preferred Experience : CNA, Nurse Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Surgical Technician

Preferred Certifications : ACLS, BLS, CC

Overview

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital.

Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services, and more.

The Telemetry Unit is a 32-bed unit with all private rooms. Patients are under continuous cardiac monitoring and have clinical conditions that require closer observation and care.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients. Ensures a safe environment by reducing risk of harm and contributes to the overall assessment of each patient by collecting and reporting vital information.

Responsibilities

  • Implements direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient and family-centered care
  • Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing
  • Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the nurse
  • Assists nurse with patient and family education
  • Documents patient care activities using correct medical terminology
  • Acts as 1 : 1 patient safety sitter as needed
  • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet patient needs
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Engages in professional development

Minimum Requirements

  • Education : High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience : No experience required
  • Supervisor Experience : No experience required
  • Preferred Requirements

  • Licenses & Certifications : Certified Nurse Assistant
