Position Information
Job Title Instructor of History FLSA Status Exempt Posted Salary Range Commensurate with experience. Employment Status Full Time Department School of Arts & Sciences Job Summary
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in history. The selected candidate will be required to teach a four / four course load of undergraduate courses and / or an equivalent combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of History.
Other duties include teaching online classes, students' advising, university services, research, and scholarly activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching, managing, and evaluating students.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to teach a variety of history courses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching, managing, and evaluating students.
- Advise history major students about academic requirements and registration for classes.
- Contribute to continual program improvement through annual evaluation of program outcomes and objectives.
- Assist in ongoing program curriculum development and participate in service to the program, department, and school.
- Actively engage in professional activities related to the Department of Social Sciences.
- Actively engage in research.
- Comply with the departmental curriculum, grading standards, student performance data, attendance policy, textbooks choices, and assessment.
- Comply with all scheduled due dates regarding teaching, grading, and advising.
- Serve in department, school, and university committees.
- Comply with all federal, state, and university laws and policies.
- Contribute to continual program improvement through annual evaluation of program outcomes and objectives.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course;
- Attend classes regularly, maintain active syllabi, and return reports, credentials, and other requested documents in a timely manner.
Qualifications
The candidate must have an earned doctorate in History from an accredited institution.
Teaching experience at college level is preferred.
