About the Job

The MN Landscape Arboretum has several openings for hourly temporary / casual employees to join the Arboretum Dining Team.

These position will not exceed 14 hours per week OR 67 working days in the calendar year. Hourly rate : $18 / hr.

Duties include, but are not limited to :

  • Cashiering
  • Greeting / Order Fulfillment
  • Food Preparation and Expo
  • Dishwashing
  • Tables / Beverage Attendant

All employees at any given time may be expected to handle food and beverage including but not limited to the following : meat, beef, pork, chicken, fish, dairy products, nuts, vegetables, etc.

Employees will be expected to follow safety, quality, and customer service standards.

Any of the assigned duties may take place at various dining locations across the Arboretum campus (i.e. Farm at the Arb, Eatery Cafe, etc.).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application / resume) :

High school graduate or equivalent or

a current Eastern Carver County's (District 112) HS student who is an active participant in the district's Work Experience Program.

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous food service experience
  • Prior cashiering experience

About the Department

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences.

The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis / St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria.

As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.

Visitors engage with gardens, collections, natural areas, a farm, research demonstrations, youth and adult education, events and exhibits.
