POSITION SUMMARY :

Do you want to make an impact on the lives of immigrants? Are you detail-oriented and have strong interpersonal communication and event coordination skills?

Do you want to train and work with community volunteers and pro bono attorneys to serve immigrants in our community?

This position involves regular workshops and volunteer coordination. This position is focused on empowering volunteers in partnership with the Immigration Legal Services department to engage immigrant applicants with their immigration processes.

This is a 12-hour-per-week position.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • In coordination with the volunteer services team, recruit volunteers for the Immigration Legal Services department
  • Coordinate and communicate with private law firms to coordinate pro bono attorney involvement for legal screening and workshops
  • Enter regular volunteer and pro bono attorney volunteer hours and information into Dynamics database after each workshop
  • In partnership with the Citizenship Coordinator, organize training of volunteers and assign volunteer roles for each workshop
  • Communication with volunteers before during and after workshops
  • Participate in Volunteer Coordinator meetings as needed
  • Meet with Volunteer Services Manager as needed Citizenship and DACA Workshop Coordination
  • Event planning and logistics for monthly Citizenship and DACA workshops*
  • External communication with community partners who host off-site workshops
  • Design floor plans for off-site workshops
  • Order food for ILS staff and volunteers for each workshop
  • Off-site workshop set up and tear down coordination and assistance
  • Assist Citizenship Coordinator with client follow up after citizenship clinics
  • Citizenship client data entry into LawLogix database
  • Assist with citizenship hotline and document drop-off. as available
  • Coordinate Citizenship clinics (at least 4-5 Saturdays per year) *Possible monthly coordination of Asylum Legal Clinic workshops

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and flexibility to work in a frequently changing environment
  • Flexibility to keep updated on changes to programs
  • Strengths in leadership and coordination strongly preferred
  • Experience and skills using database management software
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)

  • Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
  • Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
