Position Title : Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist

Location : Santa Fe, NM
Relocation : Yes – $5,000 relocation bonus (taxable, paid with first paycheck)
Pay : 35-45 / hr based on experience level
Position Summary
The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for assisting in the performance of high-quality interventional radiology exams in compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards. This role involves direct patient care, technical expertise with radiographic equipment, and support for physicians during interventional procedures.
Essential Job Duties
Interventional Procedure Support (40%)
Perform specialized tasks associated with interventional radiology equipment and supplies.
Verify examination orders with physicians, RNs, and manager.
Prepare and explain procedures to patients / families in clear, lay terms; obtain informed consent.
Check creatinine levels using i-STAT, verify GFR, and document results in RIS.
Position and immobilize patients as necessary.
Set up and maintain sterile trays and fields throughout procedures.
Assist radiologists by handling instruments, monitoring equipment, and observing patient condition.
Scrub in when needed to assist with passage of catheters and guide wires.
Imaging and Cytology (25%)
Acquire, assess, and forward images to PACS for quality assurance and review with radiologists.
Perform cytology preparation for biopsies, including slide prep, specimen handling, and order forms.
Arrange transport of pathology specimens.
Maintain inventory of biopsy supplies.
Clean exam rooms and ensure proper disposal of infectious waste and sharps.
Inventory and Supply Management (25%)
Maintain par inventory of catheters, balloons, stents, guide wires, and other IR supplies.
Restock patient care areas and storerooms.
Track and order supplies, remove expired items, and submit inventory reports.
Record and forward exam-related charges to billing.
Scheduling, Training, and Additional Duties (10%)
Schedule patient procedures in RIS when needed.
Participate in Saturday call rotation.
Assist in training new IR staff.
Perform additional IR-related duties as directed by the department manager.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology.
Registry eligible or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) .
Registry-eligible staff must pass the ARRT exam within two testing periods of hire.
Licensed by the State of New Mexico as a Certified Radiologic Technologist.
CPR certification required.
Proficiency with Windows OS and RIS software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of cytology preparation and x-ray film processing.
Strong communication skills for interacting with physicians, peers, and patients.
Ability to comfort patients, clearly explain procedures, and maintain professionalism.
Physical ability to lift / move patients and equipment (minimum 20 lbs.).
Ability to maintain HIPAA privacy / security standards.
Willingness to work offsite locations as needed.

Frequent standing, walking, and patient handling.
Exposure to communicable diseases.
Stressful medical environment requiring focus with multiple distractions.
Occasional overtime, weekends, and call shifts required.
Pay Details : $35.00 to $45.00 per hour
