Director of Engineering - Software Quality

McDonald’s continues to invest in customer and associate facing technologies to improve the overall restaurant experience of both crew and though our Mobile, Kiosk, POS and Web platforms.

This role will be focused on building and maturing a Center of Excellence focused on the end-to-end software quality journey.

This begins with product planning and continues throughout the software development life cycle into testing deployment and production.

As the owner of this COE, you will build the KPI’s, visibility and accountability vehicles that measure our quality across the software development life cycle.

This entails contributions from dependent teams that include Product Management, Market Technology Teams, Customer Technology, Restaurant Technology, the Delivery Office and 3rd party vendors.

The key outcome this role will deliver is to ensure our processes and participants are functioning effectively to continuously reduce software defect leakage and meet company quality objectives.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, leader of leaders and self-starter with broad technical acumen.

Responsibilities :

• Build and mature an end-to-end software quality COE.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to create and monitor execution of high-value roadmaps of technology improvements.
• Evangelize the program. Garner support of executives and partners throughout McDonald’s.
• Identify the opportunities for continuous improvement of Quality assurance in our Software Development Life Cycle process.
• Champion efforts to drive continuous improvement in software delivery quality.
• Be a practitioner and evangelist of Agile, DevOps, Automation, Continuous Improvement and Data-Driven cultures.

Qualifications :

• 7+ years of leading technology-based programs and initiatives at large, matrixed organizations
• Experience in leading teams and initiatives in the management and improvement of the software development lifecycle for enterprise scale organizations.
• Experience in software quality improvement and test automation is preferred.
• Experience in management consultant at large, global firms is preferred.
• Experience in product development, testing, deployment and release validation.
• Good understanding of testing strategies for mobile, APIs and desktop applications.
• Ability to drive cross-functional initiatives through trust, education and collaboration.
• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate complex issues to senior leadership.
• Knowledge of up-to-date, relevant best practices, solutions and vendors for the full ADLC.
• Ability to identify problems, provide solutions and lead solutions to reality.
• Ability to lead leaders through transformation.
