Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the indirect supervision of the Manager of Cardiovascular Services and according to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the registered nurse pre admissions is responsible for coordinating pre-admission testing and education for patients.

This includes conducting pre-operative phones calls, conducting education and preparing charts for the procedural areas

• Review surgical schedules and coordinate appropriate timing of preprocedural appointments
• Conduct preprocedural patient phone calls as necessary
• Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based on protocol.
• Able to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients per policy.
• Able to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
• Consults other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.

Job Requirements

Experience

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• 1 year of nursing experience in a cardiovascular setting preferred

Education

Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN)

Licenses and Certifications

• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
