Department Information

Student and Campus Event Centers

The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities.

Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management.

We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees.

Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community.

Key components of our department include :

  • Student Leadership Development : We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board.
  • Event Management : Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution.
  • Collaboration and Engagement : We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college.

Job Summary

  • The Program Manager works with many levels of leadership and staff to manage program efforts based on industry best practices;
  • works as the single point of contact for facilitation and communication of program goals, deliverables, and schedules, and must be an excellent communicator;

various levels of documentation will be produced at each stage of the program and the program manager is often the person who creates these with input from others.

This position may supervise : Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Establish goals, objectives, and evaluation criteria for programs; evaluate program effectiveness on an ongoing basis

Job Duty 2 -

Manage day-to-day operational aspects of programs, including planning scheduling, and monitoring activities; Assist with developing and formalizing program scope;

assign resources and set deadlines

Job Duty 3 -

Recommend, update, and support programmatic policies and procedures

Job Duty 4 -

Develop and maintain effective relationships with program sponsors, stakeholders, teams, and others to assess needs and existing program methodology

Job Duty 5 -

Research and identify funding and resources to support programs; Track timelines and budgets, report status, and resolve or escalates issues as necessary

Job Duty 6 -

May assist with developing and distributing publications, resources, and program or marketing materials

Job Duty 7 -

Participate in strategic and operational planning for programs

Job Duty 8 -

Perform other job-related duties assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma / GED or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience

Up to two years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Certifications, Licenses or Permits :

o Project Management Professional - (PMP)

o Certified Associate in Project Management - (CAPM)

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or two years college course work

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
