Reporting to : Intellectual Property Counsel
Your role in the mission :
Type One Energy are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Agent to join our Intellectual Property team. The Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, and supporting the overall IP strategy of the company.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics or a relatable field, alongside experience in patent prosecution
- Draft and prosecute patent applications in the US and foreign jurisdictions.
- Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability of inventions.
- Prepare responses to office actions from patent offices.
- Work closely with Engineers and Scientists to understand inventions and provide guidance on IP matters.
- Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide opinions on potential patent infringement.
- Assist in the development and management of the company’s patent portfolio.
- Collaborate with outside counsel on various patent-related matters.
- Stay current with changes in patent laws and regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on intellectual property issues.
- Support litigation and enforcement activities as needed.
What you’ll need :
- Ph.D or Masters in Physics or a related field.
- Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably in a law firm or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of US and foreign patent laws and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using patent databases and research tools.
