Do you seek opportunities to diversify your project experience and thrive in a doer-seller role? Eichleay is looking for a Life Sciences Senior Project Manager to join our team, blending project management expertise with a proactive business development approach.

This position offers the flexibility of working from home, but requires residing within 50 miles of one of the Eichleay offices for weekly on-site client meetings and field walks.

Eichleay has offices located in Concord, CA, Larkspur CA, Orange CA, Billings, MT and Ferndale, WA. Additional remote locations may be considered for CO, NV, TX, and UT.

Compensation : $160,000 - $180,000 *anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity.

The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.

You will work a 9 / 80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Job Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) : Emphasize HSE throughout all project phases.
  • Client Relations : Cultivate and grow relationships with clients, acting as the primary interface and ensuring professional communication.
  • Business Development : Leverage existing Life Science client relationships to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Develop lasting relationships with new and existing clients, contributing to the company’s growth.

  • Proposals and Budgeting : Prepare engineering project proposals, manage budgets, and track trends.
  • Team Leadership : Coordinate activities of all project participants, recognizing and addressing technical issues, and leading corrective actions.
  • Mentoring : Mentor project engineers, developing them into project managers.
  • Internal Relationships : Develop effective working relationships with company management, engineering and design staff, and peers.
  • Project Execution : Ensure projects are executed professionally and timely, meeting client requirements and achieving Eichleay’s profit objectives.

Plan, schedule, lead, and coordinate technical and management aspects of projects.

  • Quality and Execution : Maintain ultimate responsibility for the quality of deliverables and effective project execution.
  • Communication : Prepare written communications and reports, lead meetings with clients, contractors, and internal staff.
  • Cost Management : Manage and forecast project costs and resource needs using Eichleay’s internal systems.
  • Project Schedules : Develop schedules and lead interactive planning sessions with the project scheduler, disciplines, and clients.
  • Project Reviews : Conduct biweekly meetings with direct reports and lead monthly project reviews.
  • Technical Knowledge : Maintain awareness of technical details and implement effective solutions for developing problems.
  • Invoicing : Review and approve client invoices before submission.
  • Value Engineering : Identify and manage value engineering opportunities.

Job Requirements :

Experience : Minimum of 10 years related experience, including at least 5 years in Life Science project management (biopharmaceuticals, food & beverage, consumer products and / or laboratories).

Successful performance as a project manager on at least four small to mid-size (up to $100m TIC) EP projects.

  • Education : Accredited four-year Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Location : Must reside, or be willing to relocate, within 50 miles of an Eichleay office location.
  • Skills : Excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, delegation skills, organizational capabilities, and attention to detail.

Command of project controls functions, including scheduling, planning, forecasting, estimating, and cost management.

  • Technical Competence : Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to implement effective solutions.
  • Safety : Ability to be badged for a process safety management governed facility, requiring in-depth drug screening.
  • Collaboration : Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients and partners.
  • Leadership : Demonstrated ability to influence clients for clear decision-making and push back when necessary.

Preferred Skills / Experience :

  • Remote Management : Experience managing project support staff in remote locations.
  • Phase-Gate Process : Familiarity with the phase-gate work process.
  • Innovation : Demonstrated innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment.

Industry Requirements :

This role may require all or some of the following requirements (as applicable) :

  • RSO Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
  • Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
  • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain.
  • Client cGMP and Sterile Area Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
  • Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
  • Participation in random drug and alcohol program.

All opportunities with Eichleay will require authorization to work in the US without the need for sponsorship. Positions will require in-person interactions and may require working onsite in an office or field environment.

This position is subject to federally mandated drug / alcohol testing. Candidates applying to Eichleay must have the ability to be badged and maintain a badge as a safety sensitive position and / or within the Building and Construction trade for process safety management governed facilities.

This will require in-depth drug screening for all positions.

  • Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends and / or holidays.
  • Job duties will generally be performed at a Client’s office, client site, production facility or industrial / construction job site.

Day to day job direction will typically be lead by our Clients designated project leader.

  • Conditions and / or schedule will vary at each Client location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
  • Candidates will be required to follow our clients' site based rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases.
