Department Summary

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a unique Southern California meeting and retreat venue. Located high in the pine-studded San Bernardino Mountains on the tranquil shores of Lake Arrowhead, our 50-acre lodge provides meeting space and accommodations for groups from September through mid-June.

During the summer, Bruins Woods Family Camp program runs for ten consecutive weeks, with up to 80 families attending each week.

Position Summary

The Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) assumes a critical role in Lake Arrowhead Lodge (LAL). By identifying new business partnerships to secure revenue streams, the DOSM serves as the primary point of contact for actively managing external vendors and affinity partners, establishing contract parameters, outlining event timelines and deadlines, selecting appropriate media channels, setting catering sales performance goals, and collaborating with senior-level corporate, business, and community leaders.

This enables the identification and development of opportunities for key relationships designed to maximize event sales and revenue-generating programs.

The DOSM collaborates with senior managers to develop annual fiscal forecasts, maintains performance statistics, and prepares reports and analyses for management.

As a member of the UCLA Hospitality team, the DOSM actively promotes the other business units, such as the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center, The UCLA Guest House, and the UCLA Catering and Conferences venues.

Travel is required to expand the client base to represent Lake Arrowhead Lodge and UCLA in national and local markets. The DOSM exercises significant discretion in negotiating large-scale contracts, including room pricing, food / beverage pricing, audio-visual pricing, and other ancillary revenue / service pricing.

The DOSM provides dynamic leadership in all selling activities, including direct selling for all groups, catering / banquet sales, and transient sales.

They also lead the conference team, market the property through print, digital, and social media, and develop marketing campaigns for groups, catering / banquet sales, and transient sales.

The DOSM also provides revenue management and oversight of OTA platforms and promotions. This leadership role is instrumental in meeting all income goals by managing LAL's sales and marketing efforts.
