Associate Program Director Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship UT Health East Texas in Tyler  The UT Health Science Center at Tyler is searching for a BE / BC fellowship-trained Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician to serve as the Associate Program Director for its established Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, which welcomed its first two fellows in 2022.
 Experience in graduate medical education is not required but would be preferred.
Our integrated Sports Medicine multi-disciplinary team of sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, sports dietician, sports physical therapist, and athletic trainers uses state-of-the-art techniques, advanced procedures, and innovative therapies to design treatment plans that are customized to our patients†specific needs and address the full continuum of care.
A successful physician in this position will have a multi-disciplinary approach to providing care, with interest in multi-disciplinary human performance research. Â Â About the Position :
- Oversee the operations of the sports medicine fellowship program.
- Direct the curriculum for the fellowship program, including the advancement of musculoskeletal ultrasound education.
- Serve as a role model for clinical excellence, clinical productivity, and professionalism in sports and exercise medicine.
- Serve as a primary mentor for sports medicine fellows to support their professional growth and career development.
- Identify and implement opportunities for growth of the fellowship program.
- Serve as an ad hoc mentor for UTHSC at Tyler medical students and residents interested in sports medicine.
- Facilitate the education of UTHSC at Tyler medical students and residents interested in sports medicine, including collaboration with residency programs.
- Collaborate with research faculty to promote and facilitate scholarly activity generated from the fellowship including original and collaborative research, publications, poster presentations, and lectures.
- Direct the recruitment of incoming fellows, including outreach to fellow candidates, reviewing candidate applications, organizing candidate interviews, developing the candidate rank list, and facilitating the fellows†transition to the fellowship program.
- Remain up to date with ACGME guidelines and regulations.
- Represent the program in sports medicine meetings and conferences.
- Provide athletic team coverage to University of Texas at Tyler sanctioned sports, with potential to cover high school sports and other community events.
Requirements :
- Minimum of one-year fellowship in primary care sports medicine
- Board Certified in primary specialty (Family Medicine, PM&R, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Med Peds, or Emergency Medicine).
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Primary Care Sports Medicine
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound experience / training required
- Unrestricted Texas MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license
- ACGME Residency graduateÂ
