Job Summary
PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR
The Preschool Director is in a position to influence young children and their families. Many of the children will be starting their first formal educational experience in our preschool.
It is not unusual for preschool students to first learn of God and his love for them through modeling from our teachers and our curriculum.
It is the director’s job to oversee the quality of the educational and spiritual components of the parish preschool program.
Reports To : Pastor, Pastoral Associate, FLSA Status : Exempt
Job Responsibilities
Set short and long term goals for establishment and improvement of the preschool program
Participate in the continued planning and implementation of a new preschool which will include an aftercare program
Be involved with all preschool decision making including policies, curriculum, budget, hiring, etc.
Oversee preschool operation on a daily basis
Plan the yearly calendar including holidays, programs, and staff development days
Develop and maintain health and safety standards as set by state and diocesan guidelines

Recruit, interview, and hire staff
Develop and maintain staff handbook and contracts
Plan advertising for the preschool
Publish school newsletter
Develop and maintain student handbook
c. Financial / Budget
Set yearly budget with Pastor and Pastoral Associate
Manage all financial aspects of the preschool and aftercare program in
conjunction with Parish Business Manager
d. Curriculum
Develop an age-appropriate curriculum that balances structured and unstructured activities and meets diocesan guidelines
e. Spiritual
Coordinate with the Director of Religious Education to develop new strategies for
a Catholic Christian growth program for the preschool staff that would be used in the preschool
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or child
development
Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in an accredited teaching
setting
Expertise in both early childhood education and child development
Practicing Catholic with a lived-familiarity with Catholic rituals and symbols and
the ability to ensure these are taught and integrated into the daily schedule and curriculum
Child-centered approach to preschool administration
Experience with preschool formation and new program implementation
