Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift at our Burbank, CA location. Work Hours : Mon-Fri 2 : 30pm - 10 : 30pm.

Job Summary :

The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions :

Understand work orders, blueprints, manufacturing orders, and machining parameters.

Validate material used.

Maintain specifications; Troubleshoot, detect malfunctions and take appropriate actions; Know when to replace worn tools.

Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and compensate for problems.

Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, fixtures and knowledge of GDT standards.

Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions taken thus far as well as any necessary further steps.

Train / Mentor lower-level CNC machinists

Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.

Non-Essential Functions :

Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD)

Minimum Qualifications :

Experience : 2 to 4 years of experience machining with CNC Mills, preferably experience with CNC Mazak

Knowledge : Knowledge of various inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, and height gages; Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations;

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing; Understanding of cutting tool Geometry; Knowledge of tooling and coordination

Skills / Abilities : Able to work quickly and efficiently through Process Improvement structure; Good verbal and written communication;

Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

Education / Certification : High School Diploma or equivalent

Eligibility Requirement : This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US persons will be considered.

Working Conditions :

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to : eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel / wrist straps and any other required PPE.

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.

Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary.

Lifting (in pounds) : up to 30 pounds

Pushing (in pounds) : up to 50 pounds

Mental / Visual : use of microscope, computer and blueprints

CNC Machinist II - $22.92 to $39.24

CNC Machinist III - $26.49 to $44.02

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.

Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
