Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work ON-SITE with our client in El Segundo, CA. Interested?
Here's what you'd do :
- The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer creates statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, machining, and material handling equipment.
- Will work closely with tooling design team and in-house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs to instructions suppliers can bid and fabricate.
- Is responsible for tooling liaison support between Manufacturing Suppliers and Tooling group.
- Will coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and responsible for suppliers meeting quality, cost, and schedule.
- Support development of tooling packages for supplier bid process through procurement group.
- Read and analyze complex GD&T drawings and help analyze existing drawings to identify shortcomings or missing information.
- Track supplier performance and answer all technical questions related to the manufacturing of tools.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to support suppliers in manufacturing of tooling.
- Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions or improvements in tool design layout to fellow responsible engineers or designers.
- Interact with design and development teams (teams include specialists in Design, Analysis, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing) to meet all design tooling requirements (technical, cost, schedule).
- Support Continuous Improvement activities.
- Support activities related to estimating, RFQ / RFP / RFI, and ROM pricing.
- Working with design engineering and fabrication team to develop statements of work, review drawings for manufacturability, coordinate meeting with suppliers for progress updates, update internal metrics and present to leadership.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence.

Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or Scientific Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Manufacturing engineering facility, machining, GD&T best practices, process improvement, working with suppliers.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing process and machining that is comfortable explaining complex technical issues to suppliers.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications :
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building are needed for the role.
- Knowledge of CAD software such as NX and Catia and laser inspection.
- Composite experience.
- CAD solid modeling (experience with NX / CATIA) and drafting experience.
- Experience with tooling design, mechanical assemblies and manufacturing.
- Self-starter and possess interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Oral and written communication, computer, documentation, and presentation skills are needed.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Project management, technical writing experience.
- Detail oriented.
