Overview
As the Director of Operations, The Bar Method Brand (TBM) , you will directly and indirectly lead the team responsible for the design, development, execution and adoption of business initiatives to ensure Franchisor and Franchisee top and bottom line performance.
This role will require you to effectively balance the development and ongoing leadership of a high performing operations team with the ability to roll up your sleeves and contribute directly to the tasks at hand.
Successful leaders in this position will leverage a strong leadership background in operations, project management, change management, business planning and implementation.
Travel expectations are 4-6 times / year.
Purpose / Impact : (Duties & Essential Functions)
Leadership
- Provide leadership for the internal operations team and indirect leadership for shared service partners to support, develop and deliver initiatives to serve the TBM’s strategic plan and performance objectives.
- Provide dotted-line direct leadership for the SaaS services team to ensure SaaS solutions meet operational needs and standards
- Source, interview, hire, coach and develop the internal operations team, cultivating a culture of accountability and high performance under our company values of People, Purpose, Profits and Play
- Create an environment that encourages creative problem solving, critical thinking and innovative idea sharing
- Monitor status reports and meet weekly with team to guide decisions, encourage engagement, provide support and maintain accountability, urgency and effectiveness
- Lead goal setting and progress updates for team of direct reports
- Provide Brand President and other stakeholders with regular status updates, feedback and appropriate reporting on key initiatives and objectives
Strategy Implementation and Adoption
- Lead national rollouts of strategic initiatives, improved processes, and best practices in order to meet brand and unit level performance objectives
- Apply structured methodologies and change management activities including organizational needs analysis, stakeholder management, communication plans, training, change impact analysis, change readiness assessments, risk / resistance mitigation plans, and pre- and post-launch reporting strategies
- Structure an annual Go-To-Market release plan wherein key deliverables and initiatives are known and ready in advance of the release window
- Apply project management practices, tools, and rhythms to manage deliverables across multiple areas of the organization to ensure timely completion within budget
- Ensure system-wide uniformity, adoption and adaptation of TBM programs, operational standards and procedures and develop programs to monitor studio performance against standards
- Lead the design, site selection, implementation, support, and measurement for all field tests (e.g. pilots)
- Cultivate an environment that promotes continuous improvement of business processes, increases consistency, reduces pain points, and improves unit level economics
- Maintain an efficient and effective process to source, document, and leverage Franchisee best practices and standard operating procedures (e.g., Operations Manual)
- Research and consider the impact of external trends (market, industry, competitive, regulatory) when creating and implementing operational best practices
Communications / Training
- Ensure appropriate communications and training are included in the implementation of new initiatives, policies, procedures and products for all stakeholders (internal and external)
- Leverage Franchisee and team feedback to assess supplemental organizational training needs
- Oversee the TBM communications planning and execution including the development and management of the brand communications calendar
- Develop and lead Franchisee feedback opportunities to steer the development and implementation of new initiatives (e.g.
Franchisee Satisfaction Survey)
- Implement methodologies, tools, curriculum, and materials that support training needs
- Design, schedule and resource webinars and ah-hoc training as needed
Field Operations
- Engage with franchisees, front-line teams, and Shared Services partners to gather data and feedback on new initiatives, process improvements and best practices Identify and understand gaps and provide recommendations on solutions
- Present initiative status updates to key franchisees, working teams, and SEB leaders
- Plan and manage the execution of Conference and Regional meetings
- Identify service level standards and then oversee the support of the Franchisee service ticketing process to meet or exceed standards
Business Partnerships
- Build and manage third party operational partnerships that help improve franchisee profitability (e.g., ClassPass)
- Work with shared services teams such as SaaS, Vendor Relations, Legal, and Finance to set up and maintain mutually beneficial contracts and efficient processes
- Identify areas of opportunity with third parties to support TBM in its strategic objectives
Financial
- Manage team and department expenses to meet or exceed budget
- Authorize necessary financial approvals
- Manage and approve expense reporting process for team

Background
- 5+ years executing large-scale initiatives including but not limited to organizational change, business process management, and organizational development
- 3+ years leading teams to achieve goals and objectives
- Experience leading and developing a team of professionals
- Operations experience in a Franchise organization, preferred
- Experience in the fitness industry, preferred
