That's where you come in.\n\nThe Registered Nurse III (RN) working in our Pediatric Gastrointestinal clinic functions in a clinical lead role in collaborative interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs that may be both predictable and unpredictable. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.\n\nThe UT Physicians pediatric gastroenterology team specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of digestive and liver disorders that affect children from infancy through adolescence.\n\nChildren's digestive systems present unique challenges and require specialized care. The pediatric gastroenterology team is equipped to handle common conditions, such as chronic abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, growth problems, infantile colic, and milk protein intolerance, as well as complex disorders, such as short bowel syndrome and liver transplantation.\n\nOnce you join us you won't want to leave.   • Plus many more!\n\nPosition Location : \n\nUT Physicians Pediatric Gastroenterology\n6410 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77030\nSchedule : Full-Time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm\n\nPosition Key Accountabilities : \n\n1. Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service / satisfaction.\n2. Adheres to broad scope of practice as established by the Nurse Practice Act.\n3. Assures compliance with quality standards, and regulatory and accrediting agency specifications to meet federal, state and local standards.\n4. Assists clinical and administrative staff in formulating goals and objectives .to meet both qualitative and quantitative outcomes.\n5. Participates in the development of nursing and clinical policies procedures, and competencies. Develops and / or acquires instructional materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to conduct training continuing education and staff development.\n6. Prepares and maintains records and reports concerning operations. Remains abreast of developments and evidence based practice by attending seminars and workshops, communicating with peers, and reading pertinent literature. Incorporates such advancements in continuing education and nursing practice.\n7. Ensures the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning for optimum use of equipment, staff and resources, maintenance of stock and supplies, efficient and safe use of equipment.\n8. Uses systematic approach to provide nursing care to patients and families / populations by performing focused and comprehensive assessments through subjective and evidence based objective data.\n9. Prioritizes, synthesizes, and documents assessments and nursing plan of care using critical thinking and judgment.\n10. Implements plan of care within scope of practice through assignment and monitoring of other nurses and delegation and supervision of unlicensed staff.\n11. Initiates standing orders for prescription refills and labs as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.\n12. Develops and implements teaching plans concerning maintenance, promotion, and restoration of health. Evaluates patients' responses and outcomes to education and therapeutic interventions.\n13. Communicates effectively with collaborative team while escalating critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.\n14. Exercises judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or health care professionals for other services / transitions in care where indicated.\n15. Performs onsite and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.\n16. Acts as a patient and healthcare advocate by maintaining a safe environment and promoting quality healthcare and services.\n17. Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.\n18. Adheres to the standard of practice for professional nursing.\n19. Acts as a clinical and leadership resource for team members.\n20. All other duties as assigned.\n\nCertification / Skills : \n
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required\n
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required\n
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred\n\nMinimum Education : \n\nBachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus two year of nursing experience, OR,\nAssociates degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus four years of nursing experience, OR, Nursing diploma (three year program) plus three years of nursing experience.\n\nMinimum Experience : \n\nTwo (2) years of nursing experience with a BSN.\nThree (3) years of nursing experience with a Nursing Diploma.\nFour (4) years of nursing experience with an ADN.\n\nPhysical Requirements : \n\nExerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds frequently and / or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.\n\nSecurity Sensitive : \nThis position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position.
